Join a group of incredible women for a worthy benefit

My dear friend, Marnina Bittner, is planning a party to both raise awareness of the heredity breast cancer gene, BRCA and to lighten the mood surrounding her upcoming provlactic mastectomy.  Marnina has schedule her surgery for late July.  But on July 6, 2010 in Austin, Texas,  she is hosting a “Ta-Ta to my Ta-Ta’s” Party.   This isn’t your ordinary party.  It’s a fundraising event for the Mamma Jamma Ride against Breast Cancer.  There will be a number of vendors there who have donated their services to the event.  There will be some great products and services in a ‘chinese auction’.

Your favorite Margarita…join the party

TwitterMoms is hosting a contest for Cinco de Mayo. They seek recipes for the margaritas.  Mine is simple, requiring only a blender, a can of frozen lemonade or limeade, a little triple sec, crushed ice and Jose Cuervo Especial tequila.  Of course you need salt and limes for garnish.  Here’s the recipe:

1 12-0z can frozen limeade (keep frozen..you can substitute lemonade if you prefer a lemony margarita)

Jose Cuervo Especial tequila

Open the can of  limeade and scoop out the frozen contents into the blender.  Fill the can with Jose Cuervo Especial tequila and poor it in the blender.  Blend.  Fill the blender with crushed ice.  Blend until smooth consistency.

Use a slice of lime to moisten the rim of the glass. Rub the salt (kosher salt preferred but any salt will do) along the rim (works best if you put the salt on a plate or bowl and dip the moistened glass in the salt).  Fill glass with your tasty frozen drink and enjoy.

A New Year and A New Blog

Good Morning World! 

It’s the first morning of the new year and it’s a time for reflection, change, and action.

I’ve been thinking about blogging for a while, but like alot of newbees, I’ve been holding back.  Why?  Perhaps because I don’t know what to blog about? Perhaps because I don’t think my ideas are anything someone would want to to read?  Perhaps because I don’t yet know what my ‘voice’ would be.    But my new years resolution is to blog and I’ve decided that the only way to learn how to do it is to do it.  If I were a gambler, I’d bet that there are scores of others with the same goal.  So here I am.  Like Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, “I know there’s a place where I belong”  And I’ve chosen this place to begin my journey.  Happy New Year everyone!
